I realize that normally on Kos, quoting Biblical Scripture on here (unless its maybe PastorDan) might get you troll-rated due to the Republicans and the religious right's efforts at totally subverting Christianity and giving all of us Christians a bad reputation. However, since Dennis Hastert, Tom Reynolds et al. appear to be floundering around speaking mealy-mouth doubletalk (also known as lying) as to who knew what, it might be a good time to throw out some Biblical references as to what the Bible says about "liars";quoting these to their normally supportive evangelical base might provide some ... 2nd thoughts on these people supporting the morally corrupt Repubs.
SO, after one provides all the evidence to a wavering Christian evangelical that the Republican House leadership knew months/years ago instead of last week.. here are some good Biblical quotes to remind them what the Bible says about liars:
Psalms 31:18-"Let the lying lips be put to silence;"
(Dennis should heed this one, I think)
Psalms 101:7-"He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight."
house? or uh.. House (of Representatives)?
Proverbs 10:18-"He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool."
That one is self-explanatory.
Proverbs 19:5-"A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape."
Another great one..
Proverbs 29:12-"If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked."
That's a simple one to explain that every Republican below Hastert, Reynolds and other House leaders who refuse to call for their resignations fit this one perfectly.
So there you have it... a perfect way to show the evangelicals that the House Republicans no longer deserve their support...and using the Holy Scriptures to do so.
