In the wake of the arrests of 21 people for allegedly plotting to blow up airliners, I was waiting to hear from some agency of the US Government or Members of Congress or from some elements of the media chiding the British for having a terror problem and needing to do something to get these people under control before it threatens the whole of the US with imminent destruction.
After all, according to at least 1 government agency in the US, that being the
venerable State Department, we have a terrorist problem up here in Canada, and are a "terrorist haven",
While on the other hand, when we do discover (alleged) terrorist cells and arrest them before they do anything (like the Brits just did) all that gets us is articles like this proclaiming Canada has "terrorist problems" and that America should be worried about us, and that our cities are full of Lebanese restaurants.
We also get certain whacky Congressmen warning their nation about the hotbed of terror activity in
enclave of South Toronto, which most of us up here apparently missed (both that its a hotbed, and that there is such a thing as an enclave in South Toronto).
So, since we're going on that standard, I await to hear the same condemnations of Britain for it being a hotbed of terrorist activities, being full of Pakistani restaurants, and having enclaves in South London full of scheming Islamic terrorists ready to destroy the US if Britain doesnt shape up and "toughen" their stance on terror.
